Part Two

Waiting; her hands are clenched tightly around a bag, her head is bowed in prayer over her lap.

Watching the clock its 11 o’clock, it’s gotta be soon?!

Waiting; he fiddles with the zipper on his boots, endeavouring to keep his hands from shaking.

Reading the statement, imagining it in my mind.

Waiting; you jump involuntarily at a loud P.A announcement, relieved and uneasy that it wasn't your name being called.

Staring at the wall, can I find a passage through time?

Waiting; he studies her out of the corner of his eye, seeing if she's going to be ok, asking "are you stressing again?"

Talking about nothing, just trying to keep us preoccupied.

Waiting; she's trying to concentrate on breathing, attempting to hold off a simultaneous asthma and panic attack.

Hoping that I don’t have to go through this again.

Waiting; he gets up to use the bathroom, he can't endure sitting any longer. Walking frees his mind as well as his body.

Listening to the discriminating sounds around me.

Waiting; you are dry swallowing, trying to lessen your fears and the parched feeling in your mouth at the same time.

Wondering what is going to happen today.

Waiting; he massages his brow, fighting off the headache that wants to take hold. Tension seems to have become a part of him.

Thinking about the past couple of days.

Waiting; she pales when he is called to the witness stand, leaving her alone with the hollowness that threatens to engulf her.

Breathing deep, trying to rid myself of inner demons.

Waiting; you feel yourself stiffening and your heart rate further increasing at the thought of what is to come.

Hearing my name being called to enter the courtroom.

No more waiting,

The time has come.
